My iPhone serial number is not valid?
Added (1). I just bought a sealed iPhone from Amazon and when I typed the imei online to see if it is unlocked, it said that the serial number is invalid. When I typed it on Apple's website, it said Please activate your iPhone:
"We are unable to display coverage details because your iPhone has not been activated.
Please contact your iPhone retailer or wireless carrier to activate your iPhone"
Is this because the phone is new and sealed and it needs to be activated when I turn it on for the first time?
