Why won't my iphone personal hotspot connect to my laptop?

I don't have wifi in my house (don't even ask) and i connect to the internet with my and my parents' phones. I've recently upgraded from the iphone 4s to the 5, and while the personal hotspot from the old one worked fine on my laptop before the new one just doesnt connect to my phone.
My dad's also got the iphone 5 and it connects fine to his, but when mine shows up on the network list and i click on it says 'checking network requirements' and then 'can't connect with this network'. on my dad's as soon as i click on it it prompts to enter the network key with no problems. The diagnostics page is no help, can somebody help!
and by the way i'm on a samsung windows 8 laptop.

Forgot passcode for iPhone 4S, don't want to update?

So everytime I hook it up to restore it, it says I have to update the software.Is there a way to restore it or over ride the pass code without updating?
I've been trying to update it all day but it gets half way through & the dodgy Internet stops or disconnects itself!

Hey, myself and my sister got a Kindle Fire HD yesterday and tried to connect to the internet. The tablet picks the signal up and then shows the messages "authentication failed" whilst my other devices such as my ipod and iphone connects fine.My router is a siemens and we're supplied by talk talk if that helps? Did Whats App discontinue its compatibility with the 2G Iphone?

I currently have an old jail broken Iphone (2G iOS 3.1.3) and have been using Whats App (presumably version 2.8.6) regularly for the last few months.It wasn't until december 26th that the app disabled itself from use.It can't open up the contacts to read nor send messages, but oddly I still receive them.

Every time I open the app, it asks me to insert my phone number as well as a 3 digit code that I get Via SMS to disable it. However, once I click the button to get the SMS, I get a notice saying that my App is "too old" and instead recommends that I download the latest upgrade at no cost, but when I tried downloading it through the app store it says it's now compatible with 4.3 or higher.

I find it unfair, yet I understand that it's all about marketing and improving service and technology, but still, is there a way around this issue or am I being forced to buy a new smartphone in order to use the App again?

Hey,

So I am considering getting an Iphone either 4 or 4S and was wanting people's opinions. I'm mostly concerned about the battery life because I call people a fair bit.
I will have the cellular data and push notifications etc turned off, as well as brightness turned down. How long would the phone last then if I was just doing mild texting and only calling a few people for generally under 10mins each? And which phone would you recommend - 4 or 4S? Is it worth getting one?

What should I know before getting in-dash Navigation?

I am purchasing a 2010 Chevy Malibu next month and I am wanting to install in-dash navigation with bluetooth. The reason being is I'm driving from St. Louis, MO to Portland, OR in August by myself and want to have the most reliable navigation. I don't want to have to read a map, since I'll be alone, and I cannot rely on my IPhone navigation because I have Sprint and who knows when I'll lose service driving half way across the country. I am not a fan of things mounted on my windshield or sitting on top of my dash. Hence the reason for in-dash. Since I've been researching different systems, I keep seeing lots of them saying the navigation works only with IPhone apps, like Garmin or Telenav. That would defeat the purpose of purchasing this. Are there any good systems with built-in navigation that does not require an app? It would be even better if I could find one that I could even program a specific route into. I also have to have bluetooth and one that I can plug my IPhone into. I want to be able to make wireless calls, direct Siri and stream audio while I'm driving. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Also, don't be a sarcastic a**hole. I don't know why people are sarcastic a**holes on this site.It's annoying and I'll just ignore your answer.

Can you turn data off on an iPhone?

I'm looking to get an iPhone. I understand that you have to pay a monthly charge for data no matter what, but to be quite honest I do not go many places that don't have wifi, nor do I feel I need to be able to get on to the internet everywhere I go, so I was hoping there's a setting to turn off data so I can get the smallest plan possible.

Is that an option?

Iphone 5 failing to read sim - am i doing anything wrong?

A week ago a bought an iphone 5 from cex - bought sim of ebay i failed to put it in the slot properly and it dropped into the sim slot, it was a pain to get out but managed to get it out with a bent paperclip however the sim looked unusable no surprise that i could not get it to work in the phone then i thought
so aquired another sim from 02 put it in the phone properly this time however message on phone is still saying no sim inserted in phone, do you think i damaged the sim slot sticking a paperclip in it or am i doing something wrong.

going to take it back tommorow see what they say but thought id ask if theres any advice on here first

My music isn't working on my IPhone?

My IPhone 4 got an update, and then all of my music erased. When I plugged it back into my macbook pro, it said i needed to also update my macbook software, so I did. After that, none of the music could play. All of them apparently synced, but it took virtually no time, so I don't think they loaded. The songs are all on there, but they're a faded gray, not bold black, and I can't click on any of the songs. I tried syncing again, and only 4 songs synced, and were playable. I tried to remove the songs that aren't working, and I can't delete any. I tried to unsync the phone hoping it would remove the songs that don't work, but it only took away the songs that did. Help please! I need my music back on my phone.My apps all work and sync. Just the music is messing up right now.

What would make my iPhone do this!

I have a new iPhone 4S, I haven't even had it a month.It's freezing, lagging, automatically going to the "slide to turn off" screen, the back light is flashing constantly like a strobe light, my camera won't work, turning itself off, and it actually went through my notes and opened some then went to my texts, selected a contact Id previously been texting, then started typing stuff trying to send it! How is that even possible??? I called apple, and they sent me to a trouble shoot guide which half this stuff doesn't even have a troubleshoot for.My LCI indicators have not been activated either. What could make my phone do this? I've never had a phone start texting on its own before, if someone hadnt been next to me to see it too I'd have thought I was mad.

I bought my friend's old iPhone 3gs about a year ago and had to get it unlocked as I wanted to keep my number on the Tesco network. My iPhone 4s stopped syncing to my iTunes out of nowhere?

I have an HP laptop and I have the latest version of iTunes installed. Also my phone used to sync to my iTunes and then stopped out of nowhere. I then reinstalled iTunes 4 times and it still wouldn't work but out of nowhere one day, my phone synced to iTunes again. Then recently it completely stopped syncing again.
However, when I plug my chord into my laptop, my laptop detects it as it makes the noise when a device is inserted into the USB slot.My phone won't charge OR sync to iTunes though and I tried to find my phone on my laptop by searching for iPhone in the search bar, and nothing comes up.

What does Electronix Shipping Info Received mean? Tracking a package?

I ordered an iPhone case from www.wholesalefactoryshop.com and they said that on 01/05/13 they received the electronic shipping info when I placed the order on 01/01/13. Anyway that's all it said on USPS when I track the package. They also sent me an email saying that is all it will say until "close to delivery day" or something. What does this mean? Scam maybe? It paid immediately but i don't know what this means that it won't update until i get the package.

Background: I'm 17 and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I will talk to my parents more about moving out when I turn 18 (April), graduate, and get a job. How to remove songs from my iphone 4s?

The version of itunes i have is 11.0 and i dont know how to remove music from my phone. Everything I have tried hasnt worked. I plugged it into itunes and clicked on my iphone and went to the music tab.i tried right clicking on the songs i dont want but a delete button doesnt come up. Ok im with my cousin and she had music playling on her iphone then her phone randomly said "iphone alert" like a few times and she pressed ok and then her iphone made it So she had a pass code to open it and she never had one before. Broke my laptop was connect to my phone, which I pulled and the computer come crashing down.
Broke popcorn maker, melted plug onto my hotplate.
scratched my frying pan while getting the plastic off my popcorn maker.
My fish tank broke, god knows why.
Got wet on some rocks my iPhone was in my pocket, stop working.
Punched my iphone because it would not turn off (alarm 3:00am) broken.

Wireless receiver to my mouse.
My key to my unit.

But you see I've near dropped anything.also it's noteworthy that the speaker was my fault because it was connect to my laptop and come crashing down when I pulled it, however my laptop was not (did not pull phone, but tripped over power cord) it was unavoidable and was broken before that.

you might be onto something but here is where it gets strange.

I have an iPhone 5, and as my family don't have any ADSL Internet (Telstra refuse to put in the needed cabling for the foreseeable future) we don't have much in the way of Internet. I get 700mb of Internet, although I manage to go over every month from browsing (average site is around half an mb, visit around 100 sites a day)

Is there any app I can get that will set me out an allowance of data for the day and then cut off or alert me when I reach the limit? I don't want to keep running over my limit, it's running down my parents and I can't afford to pay the rates

Its more than just selecting the contact and hitting delete. When I do that, if I create a new text msg the contact is still there.
For example… contact "Laura" is deleted, I create a new msg and type "L" in the To: field and Laura is still there. (the number, and not the name shows up after selected)
I have even went into my iCloud but that made no difference either

My iphone was stolen today at my highschool. Everything was backed up so im not worried about losing contacts and pictures. However if i deactivate the stolen one, theyy will still be able to access all my pictures and texts and emails. I had a password on it, but if they crack it… idk what to do. To cut a long story short, i told my parents i was out job seeking in the city centre when I actually was with my boyfriend at a park where i got robbed for my iphone and threatened with a knife at 2.30pm after he left me alone for 5 mins. 11:55-12:00+ Reading. Light off.

12:00-1:00+ Get dressed.
I really want to know how I can make myself go to bed earlier and get up earlier. On the "DVD in the mornings" front, I would still like to keep that, even if I have to compromise and do some exercises as well.

So I dropped my iPhone I'm the tolit and it went completely dead. I had to go get a new iPhone because they couldn't fix it. Problem is, I never sync my iPhone to my computer.So my iPhone wasn't backed up at all. How so I get all my iTunes purchases back. Like my music, books, movies, and apps? They are on my iTunes account still right? How do I get them back on my phone? PLEASE HELP!

Will she get mad if I ask for it back?

I let my friend borrow my ipod about one or two months ago because she had no device to listen to music with. She's been my friend for about six years now. We're juniors in high school by the way. She said she'd return it to me when we graduate but actually lately I've been wanting it back. I started running again and I use my iphone for music but it's kind of annoying to use it because it's big and all.My ipod is small and light - easy to run around with if it were in my pocket. Also, I've been going out a lot and like the iphone battery kind of sucks so I try not to even listen to music. Because i'm paranoid that my battery will run out when I'm in the city (new york) alone.So instead i want to use my ipod for music because that's its sole purpose really.
Do you think she would get upset if I ask to have it back? I didn't get her a Christmas present yet because I've been busy but I plan to ask her when I give it to her. Maybe i'll bake some cookies too.
You might tell me to tell her everything I told you but she's kind of sensitive and gets mad easily. I still like her, of course.
