I just received a new iphone 6 from my stepdad. I've never had an iphone before and I wasn't aware you needed a sim card whenever you restore the device. It was signed in as his apple id and i wanted to make my own. I restored it, and now i'm stuck on the "needs sim card" activation screen. The phone is locked to at&t and i need to unlocked so i can use a canadian company. Do i need to purchase an at&t sim card to activate it or can i use any nano sim? Can the phone even be unlocked now that I restored it with no sim? What can I do to fix this and what will the costs be…
