What can be only described as a tumor on iPhone 4s Screen?


I have had an iPhone 4S that I got used. One time I turned it on to see a small, ballpoint-pen-ball size black spot on the left of the screen. It never went away… Ever. However over the last year or so the spot has grown to the around 5mm wide by 20mm high. It has been growing consistently for a very long time. Hence "tumor". Any idea what it is, and why it's happening? I'm gonna get a new screen anyway but it's kinda weird.
